Be Still & Know...
It is time to know that God is God & that you are His

When God speaks—(yes, when not if)…
…the problem often isn’t His volume, it’s the noise in our lives. Our thoughts race, our surroundings hum with activity, and the voices of family, friends, and work constantly cling to all our senses yearning for our attention. But what if we’re being invited into something far deeper? A life of stillness.
This is an era of returning.
Returning to the quiet.
Returning to the mundane.
Returning to the intricate, sacred details of our humanity: the very essence of who God made us to be, formed in His image.
Stillness isn’t about stopping. It’s not about sitting idly or letting life pass by. No, the Biblical stillness we are talking about here is a posture of the heart. It’s about retreating to the inner chambers of our soul, a place designed to meet God. Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us, “He has also set eternity in the human heart…” Right here the truth is revealed to us sis: the journey to communion with God begins within. We must go inside ourselves to reunite with the One who created us for Himself.
Martin Laird, in Into the Silent Land, beautifully describes this concept:
"To enter silence is not to retreat from reality, but to become most fully present to reality, to God, and to ourselves as God has made us. Silence is the gateway to the eternal present where God dwells." (Laird, 2006, p. 15)
I sense deeply in my spirit that God is calling His daughters to enter IN. The words “Come inside, daughter” resonate within me, stirring a holy urgency. There is a sacred place within where we can be wholly satisfied; a sanctuary of divine connection.
Over the past two decades, women have increasingly been placed at the center of attention in ways that have not served us well. The world has pushed us to perform, to prove, to be everything for everyone, and in doing so, many of us have abandoned the stillness of our own hearts. We’ve stepped outside of ourselves to feed the masses, only to realize we’ve left our identity behind.
But here’s the truth: We can only see ourselves clearly when we first see God clearly. Our identity is revealed in His presence, not in the applause or demands of the world. It’s time to silence the noise.
It’s time to grow quiet about the world and loud about God.
To live lives that honour Him, we must know Him—not just intellectually, but intimately. This knowing is not something we can grasp from the surface. It’s an inner connectivity that reaches back to the very beginning, to the moment He formed us in the secret place, long before we were placed in our mother’s womb.
“For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them (Psalm 139:13-16, NKJV).
God is inviting us back into that sacred communion.
He’s asking us to step away from the distractions, the demands, and the false narratives the world has placed upon us. He’s calling us into His stillness, where our souls can rest and our hearts can remember who we truly are in Him. So, daughter, will you come inside? Will you allow Him to quiet the chaos around you and within you? There is a place of peace, joy, and identity waiting for you. It’s time to return. It’s time to enter in.
So how do we return to this stillness? How do we quiet the noise enough to hear His voice clearly? How do we actually do this in a way that makes sense for our lives?
Practical Steps to Embrace Stillness:
Start Your Day in Silence
Dedicate the first few moments of your morning to God. Before scrolling, before emails, before the family, before the day’s demands, sit with Him. Set a timer for 5–10 minutes, close your eyes, and simply breathe. Start slow. Even do 2 minutes if that is an easier way to start. Whisper His name if your mind wanders, JESUS.Audit Your Noise Levels
Look at your daily habits. How much of your time is consumed by social media, TV, or unnecessary conversations? Begin to carve out moments to step away from the noise. Silence isn’t always about isolation but intentionality.Create a Sacred Space
Designate a physical place in your home for meeting with God. It could be a chair by the window, a corner of your room, your car before you start driving, the toilet before you shower or even a bench outside. Return to this place daily, allowing it to become a sanctuary of stillness.Practice "Heart Listening"
Stillness involves going inward, aligning your heart with His. Journaling can be a helpful here sis. Write down what you’re feeling, what you sense God might be saying, and Scripture that comes to mind.Embrace the Mundane as Worship
Washing dishes, folding laundry, or walking the dog: these moments can become acts of worship. Slow down, and invite God into the seemingly small tasks of your day. He’s there, waiting to meet you in the ordinary.
Returning to stillness is countercultural.
The world glorifies busy, loud, and rushed. But in the stillness, we find life; eternal life that begins now, rooted in Him. As we cultivate this quiet posture, we’ll find that God was never distant: He is within, so we are never left without. He was simply waiting for us to silence the noise and come back home to His presence.
Holy Chit Chat
Picture this: You’re curled up on my couch, warm blankets wrapped around us, tea in hand, and a candle flickering on the coffee table. The air smells like lavender and vanilla, and we’re diving deep into this sacred conversation.
Let’s talk, girl. What does stillness look like in your life right now? Is it something you crave but feel you can’t attain? Maybe it feels like a far-off luxury, or perhaps it’s something you fear because of what might surface in the quiet.
Here are my questions for you sis:
What “noise” in your life feels the hardest to let go of?
How can you take one small step toward stillness this week?
I’ll go first: For me, it’s the constant pull of my phone. I’ve been setting boundaries by silencing notifications during my quiet time and leaving my phone in another room. It’s not easy, but the reward has been worth it so far: hearing God’s whisper amidst the stillness.
Your turn.
Meet me in the comments, let’s talk about it together. We’re on this journey side by side, learning to quiet our hearts and lean into His presence. Be still oh thy soul.
I’m here with you, cheering you on always (and praying for you).
Love,
Conecia (your sister in Christ)
P.S Martin Laird, in Into the Silent Land is a great book on this topic.

Conecia, this was so timely! I also experience the constant pull of my phone. It’s wild how this lil device has such a strong hold on us. I appreciate you including the practical steps to embrace stillness — I will definitely be trying it out. 🤍
This was an ON TIME READ FOR ME!!!! Thank you for sharing this so beautifully, especially the practical steps and the book recommendation (adds to cart)!
I'm re-learning and re-prioritizing being still by simply delighting in the Lord and sitting with Him—falling back in love with the sound of His presence 🤍🧎🏾♀️
